2020 Bagel To Beer Marathon

The 2020 Bagel to Beer Marathon was unique not only for the COVID pandemic but it was also the 70th birthday for several original participants of the Bagel to Beer Marathon. Similar to their 50th and 60th birthday celebrations in 2000 and 2010, Tom Brown and Ralph Massella took the lead on the 70K walk/bike/run option. Those celebrating their 70th birthday this year included Rick Hatfield, Leonard Guralnick, Rusty Toler, Ralph Massella, Pat Brooks, Duane St. Clair, Tom Brown, Tom Green and Jeff Cohen. This morning's weather was perfect for running. Temperature at the start line was about 45 degrees and rose to only 65 degrees at the finish. This is a complete opposite of past years which typically included hot and humid forecasts. The cooler weather proved advantages as Adam Wytko who broke three hours with a blazing 2:58 finish time. This is Adam's second time breaking three hours. He previously ran 2:53 in 2015. The first female finishers were a group of three including Faye Weaver, Michele Pelszynski, and Marcie Burkhart in a time of 4:48:21. Due to the pandemic, this year's race was kept low key without much advertisement. Runners were also given the option to run virtually and submit their time.
